Johnson 25 RD-14; which carburetor kit?

My dad always called this a 1952 25 HP, bought in fall of 1952. I guess the second impeller replacement ever (it looked new!!) should be followed by its first carburetor rebuilding for rough running. The question is which kit, if any. I see a Sierra kit (18-7024) for 1954-1955. Will it also fit whichever year the RD-14 is considered (one site says 1953)?

Where is there a source of a repair manual for this RD-14 without paying for the manuals for 1907 to 1980? Many $30 manuals that I see miss this 1953 outboard by about 2 years, or I have to buy one that covers nearly the entire Johnson production.

I think your best bet is to get the service manual for just your motor. Some of the manuals out there are vague and they assume that you already know what they are talking about. I just got a manual for my 1976 Johnson 25hp and I can't stop reading and re-reading it. Try getting your manual from IBoats first, and if they don't have one, try kencook.com. It will be money well spent:)
