I have a 225 Johnson (2000 Model) J225PLSSC and it is acting up as soon as you crank it up. I have put a power pack on the motor and plugs. I have a great blue spark. I think it might be a fuel problem. I dont know for sure. As soon as I put my boat in the water and prime the line. I crank my motor and it begins to run rough like it is not firing on all cylinders. Then one I mash the gas a little bit, you fell and hear something in the motor kick in. It sounds like it has a blast of power. It is like its running on a couple cylinders then the other cylinders kick it. I was wondering what could cause that. Could it be the carbs.

Thanks for the information. Do you know about how much that will cost?

Nothing, do it youself. It's not hard at all. All you need is a basic socket set, larger butter container full or varsol, flat head screw driver, and a harbour freight srpray gun cleaning brush kit. You will also need the carb rebuild kit for each carb. It takes about 20 min's per carb so a saterday afternoon. Just take your time and be picky. After you get done, make sure you check and clean you fuel filters for dirt before starting the motor. Don't want to have to do it again. I like to flush the fuel lines while I have the carbs off. Again to make sure you get all the crap/dirt out of the system. You would be suprised at what you find in them.

It is really not hard to do this. Just a bit of time comsuming. Don't even have to worry about any settings. There are none on these carbs, everything is fixed. Just have to do the link and sync after wards.

Are you sure it not still in Quikstart? It will be in Q-start everytime you start it untill (1) head temp is reached setting(2) Engine is rev'ed above 1500rpms. Take a timing light and check both banks on engine.Check it in water on trailer as it could be a weak stator. If you do clean carbs do not remove or adjust the idle mixture needles as these are preset at factory and install new gasket ,dont reuse old ones.
