I wanted to know if I replace the upper drive shaft bearing and seals as p/n 0439476 - Drive Shaft Bearing Housing and Seal Assembly . If I change it as a assembly bearing / seal / housing would it needed to be shimmed again . I was going to use the old washer , shim and thrust bearing , pinion and reinstall with new assembly . I have a seal leak there and bad bearing and though it be easy to just replace the whole thing as a P/n 0439476 assembly ... thank's for the help JJB [h=1][/h]

i got to think, yes.... unless you can accurately measure the distance from the underside of the lip on the housing to the surface that contacts the shims.... and compare that between the old and the new parts,,,,,its not that hard to get the old seal out. i just did mine.....and if you can find a large enough socket the install is not hard either
