Just wondering where the best place is to buy the manual?

Bearing in mind it will need to be mailed to
Australia.

I have the Clymers EVINRUDE / JOHNSON 1965-1998 WORKSHOP MANUALS.

Thinking the specific manufacturer's service manual may be better?

Or is the Seloc the one to go for?

Thanks

Matt

Matt, a local johnnyrude dealer is your best bet.

Hunts marine for example.

Mate,

I think they are waaaaay cheaper in the US than they are here. Although I did buy the Clymers off eBay here in CD form-and just printed it out at work-$17.00 all up-bloody bargain.

Matt

In my opinion, the Seloc is useful but very generic. It covers a lot of model years, but can be a good reference. Best bet is a model/year specific repair manual

Matt: As always, try Amazon, e-bay, and of course, right here at I-Boats. Johnny/Rude has a great site with lots of archival info. Not sure of the URL, but if you google you'll find them quickly.
I'm new to outboards, myself, but found a lot of help in this forum. Stay tuned.

A lemon!

Nah-just kidding (well hope so, but the hull is yellow and so far it's been a little tart), bought a 16 foot fibreglass half cabin off a mate. Boat came with a 1982 60hp Johnson that had one shot cylinder and a heap of other problems that would have cost $2000 for a total fix up-so went down the route of buying the boat and trailer and another outboard elsewhere. Just want to make sure I can maintain and repair the motor myself.

Also bought a parts catalogue off the same eBayer-again original in new condition-cheap too. Wonder where they are getting them from-a good eBay seller for others here looking for a manual or parts catalogue-they have many many manuals for all types of motors, sizes and years.

Seller's user ID is searayman13-worth a look if looking for a manual etc.

Matt

Matt: I like that name for a boat: 'Lil Tart. I'm risking getting off topic for this forum, so I hope you have a good winter. We're just getting wet in Maine, USA.

Well, it's a great name! Yes, we do reverse the seasons. We are now getting close to what passes for summer up here.

Hi Matt: Just curious on how you made out. Are you in or out of the water?

Yep-ended up with a Johnson 60hp 1987 3 cyl 2 stroke VOR.

Nice engine. Came re-conditioned with a three month warranty.

The boat is a great boat-perfect for the family-me, wife and three girls 2, 5 and 7. Where we live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney is an area called Pittwater/Broken Bay great for boating.

Motor is a somewhat underpowered for the boat IMO-would be better with about a 90hp. But, just don't have the $ to throw at it to get that size engine. Maybe later.

Matt
