Have a query as to how the emergency cut-off works on THIS control box.

Mine has NO cup and lanyard attached and the motor will run without them attached.

Is the emergency cut-off on this model meant to be one where the cup PULLS the emergency cut off button OUT when activated-rather than the type where the clip holds the emergency cut off button OUT and then the emergency cut off button goes IN when activated?

Sounds like a stupid question perhaps-but just want to get it right before I'm out on the water.

Looks like I need to order a part-its part #393079 according to the parts catalogue.

In Australia, but suspect the part would me much cheaper in the US, even with shipping.

Any online stores recommended for such a relatively minor part?

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Matt

If the engine is running without a clip on the cutoff switch, the switch is probably disconnected on the inside of the control box Matt. Simple make/break switch. When the button is in, switch open.

The old style cap has been superceded by a new clip. It has three prongs on it to hold it to the switch and hold the button in. Much better than the old style. And as Sloopy posted, it's under $10....actually $9.50 US.
