I just bought a 1957 7.5 Johnson but the gas tank is full of rust and leaks. Is it a good idea to convert to a fuel pump and a 1 hose system or go find an good used pressurized tank?

It is a good idea to convert to a single fuel line. Lots of threads can be found on this forum regarding this topic. It is not a big deal converting these motors.

I have done few ..

1- you need vacum either use the pressure nipple, mount a OMC pump over a side cover plate or tap a cover cover plate install a nipple to get vacum

the better method is to simply plug the engine air pressure nipple behind the crab and mound a OMC pump over a side cover with a small plate by drilling the engine and plate to ley vacum reach the OMC pump back side
