johnson 15hp outboard correct sparkplug?

hello, i have a 15hp 1991 johnson outboard. i am unsure of the correct sparkplug to use. i am using the champion L77JC4. i was told to use the NGK BR7HS. Please help. i dont want to ruin my motor with the wrong spark plug. thank you.

forgot to mention. i converted this motor from a 9.9 to the 15 with the carb change. not sure if this makes a difference.

the only 15 hp motors that I have heard of that require the NGK's are the newer 2003 to around 2005 4 strokes with specific carbs on them, Mikuni's I belive. Hopefully someone jumps in and lets you know.
