HI all new to the outboard world, Baught a 17' Pro select and of course boat has been sitting about a year. But anyway I have a 1999 90h Merc and a 15h johnson kicker. Couldn't get kicker to remain running (pulling bulb flat) but i found the issue is the oiler. Its a oil bottle that has a float in it and I'm guessing that when the oil gets low it shuts the fuel off to motor. Has fuel hose coming from gas tank to bottom of oil bottle and then fuel line going to motor. Now with that said oil bottle was almost empty (float shut fuel off) Filled bottle and kicker started up and a ran a few minutes but quit and bulb was flat again ( no fuel flow) So I'm also guessing the the oil mixer is clogged with old semi dried oil goop! ( i will check entire fuel system for clogs also) But my main question is does anybody know how this oiler mixes the oil to fuel mixture? i.e.. Fuel flows and spins a wheel to pump oil into fuel or a diaphram is actuated etc...
