Im looking to buy a new Ranger 185vs with a Johnson 150hp saltwater edition on it. I have two questions. Is the moter enough to push my boat. The boat weight is 1530 lbs. That is my main concern. Also, what would you think of this moter. I think it would be fine. I would like someone thoughts on it, Im trying to decide on buying this boat.

Thanks

Re: Johnson 150

Jeremiah, I have a 1994 Ranger 375V with a Johnson 150 FastStrike on it and it is a great setup. I don't know how my boat compares to yours weight wise, but I had mine out yesterday with almost a full load of full (Probably 18 gallons)and two other guys in the boat. I weigh about 150 and one of the other guys weighs about 300 and one about 200 and I was able to hit 5200 Rpm and about 55 mph on the omc speedo. I probably could have gotten a little more speed and rpm if I would have trimmed up a little more, but the lake was too short to mess with it. There were other fisherman out there too and I didn't want to rip the lake up too badly.

Re: Johnson 150

Rangers are not known for their blazing speed but the Johnson 150 will be ok
