the motor is a 96 johnson 150 faststrike that starts cold every time, runs great ...but after it runs for a short while and up to temp it loses spark to all cylinders.usually after i shut it down, fish awhile and try to start it,, it will not start untill the next day and fires as soon as i touch the key...this happens every time...i have a manual and did the tests the best i can....not sure if i tested the power pack correctly but all i have read points to the pack...has anyone had this problem ...i have no warning lights and i dont think its overheating the stop circuit is ok and i have replaced the key switch...underhood of this motor is spotless but i checked all the grounds and connections anyway...i know the battery is good and fully charged the volt gage reads aprox 14 volts while running and 11.6 at the stator wire while cranking....any ideas would help.....if i replace the pack would the cdi pack be a better choice than the omc........ thankyou

Re: johnson 150 faststrike

It sounds like a typical pack failure, but the voltages to the pack must be checked when it fails to be sure. You will need a DVA adapter and a voltmeter to do these tests.

CDI actually makes the packs for Johnson/Evinrude.
