I have an opportunity to buy a 1984 johnson 15 two stroke motor. were there any issues with
this vintage motor? It appears to be in reasonably good shape and runs well on muffs. Thanks, Karl

I don't recall any major issues with those 15s of the early '80s. Check the upper motor mounts for excessive play. They're NLA from Bomby. Worn ones can leak exhaust at idle and cause squirrelly handling. I don't think the '84 was a 100:1 fuel-oil mix year, but if you have a 100:1 sticker on the side near the fuel connector, peal it off. Your motor runs 50:1 mix.
