Johnson 15 Difficult starting when hot.

Thank to everyone for an exellent board.<br />I am having some trouble with my 1976 mod engine.<br />It starts ok cold but when it gets up in temp after apprx. 5 min of running the engine gets difficult to start. I have found a solution. I bent away the start in gear protection and then the engine will start at once with 3/4 of wot<br />or more. The engine also seems to need more throttle when idling hot than when the engine is cold. The engine seems to have a normal temperature when running.<br />Does anyone know whats wrong here?

Sounds like your carburetion is set a bit on the rich side.Remove the sparkplugs after warm start failure and see if they appear wet or dry.

Thanks OB <br />I will try the boat tomorrow.<br />Settings?<br />Do you mean float or idle speed mix.<br />I have a Ken Cook manual for the engine.
