My 1990 140 Johnson is a little hard to turn (no manual steering). The cables seem are greased, the resistance seems to be at the pivot point on the engine. Is there a grease fitting for this or a way to lubricate it? Is replacement of the pivot point difficult?

Thanks

The pivot point has a grease fitting on the port side and, yes, is a PITA to work on if there is a problem.

If the problem is that the boat pulls hard in one direction, that can usually be corrected by adjusting the rear of the trim tab above the propeller in the direction of the pull, using small incremental adjustments.
