As long as that battery has some juice left in her the motor will run, assuming the motor is of recent vintage and uses a distributer or electronic ignition power pack. At some point though the voltage will drop below critical and the ignition system will stop functioning. Things to check generally include a voltage regulator and the generator/alternator. I assume there are no obvious broken wires in the wiring harness? On the older motors there was a belt running from the flywheel to the generator, don't know if they still use a belt or are directly connected in some fashion but might be something to check.

Outboards have two seperate sets of windings, one for ignition and one for charging. Check the resistance in the stator. If it ohms out correctly then it's the regulator/rectifier. Good luck!
