Johnson 112 SPL Model number

Greetings All,

I am in the process of re-building my 1996 Johnson 112 HP SPL. I added a VRO and it also has power tilt and trim. I have the block almost completely torn down. I want to order the service manual for this motor and need the model number. I have looked for the tag that is supposed to be on the block. It is not there. I have gotten the number from the freeze plug (G4174912), which doesn't appear to cross-reference to any valid model number. I have verified that it is in fact a 1996 by a stamp in the casting under the bubble exhaust cover.

It looks like in 1996, there were only four models of the 112 SPL (112SLED / 112SXED and 112TSLED / 112TSXED). I am trying to find out if there is enough difference in these models to be concerned with the actual service manual I order. If anyone has some insight into this, I would be very happy.

Is there a tag on the port stern mounting bracket ??

Actually, I can't see it right now because I'm out of town right now. I will be able to look for it next Monday. I don't recall seeing a tag there before.

There aint enough trees in the world to make a service manual for every single model with minor differences.

If it is truly a '96 one like this covers all of those models and more.....
