Johnson 110 water pump won't pump

I just replaced the water pump on my 87' Johnson 110. It was fairly straight forward, however it doesn't appear to be working. I have no stream coming fron the tube. My ears only fill on one side, could this be the issue or do I have to drop the lower unit again and start probing. It is possible the cam dog didn't lock the impeller, however I was pretty careful.
Any thoughts out there?

Before getting too worried, try running it in the lake or garbage can full of water. Sometimes the hose cannot satisfy larger engine water demands and will send you on a "goose chase"

Before dropping the lower unit try sticking a paper clip in the telltale to check if it is clogged. You can also follow the hose to the block and blow through it.
Keep in mind, the water pump should still work with a clogged telltale. If everything is clear here, drop the LU. Check for proper rotation, key,..etc. Also, make sure no adhesive/sealant got made its way in the bleed hole and blocked it.

my bet is clogged tale tell hose, or pinched water tube grommet.
