I am rebuilding a QD22, 1961. It runs well but the gear case is leaking. I pulled off the bottom end and dissasembled OK but I have no clue how the upper end of the driveshaft connects.
Does anybody have a drawing of the end going into the power head? Do I just grease-it-up and shove it in as the minister said to the call-girl?

You might post this in the Johnnyrude forum. Those guys will know for sure. The drivesahft on my '59 Johnny V4 just pulled out. It had 4 splines, if I remember correctly. There was a half circle strap that held the pinon gear into the bearing of the gearcase.

There is an indent on the splined end. I assume the circlip is kept by the power-head. Cant see anything. Thanks

There should be an o-ring that goes into the groove just below the spline.----Very important to keep water out of the joint.
