I have a nice running QD23 and I am wondering if there is a carburator bowl drain? I see what looks to be a brass plug on the bottom side of the bowl where I would put a drain but its not easy to get to so I thought I would ask before I mess something up.
Thanks, greg

Re: Johnson 10hp bowl drain

Let's see, trying to remember whether that one has a fixed high speed jet or adjustable knob? If a fixed jet, there is a hex plug on the bottom/front of the carb. Removing that will drain the bowl with no harm.

But then again, on some Johnsons they use that as an axle pin for the slow speed knob. Can't remember without looking.

The brass one you are talking about: Is that a little bitty screwdriver slotted screw? That indeed is a drain plug. At some point they quit putting them in there.

I haddn't thought about just removing the high speed needle valve to drain it. I pulled it and drained the bowl. It has a small slotted plug but its really tough to get to.
