Can Annybody tel me how to connect my OMC tachometer to my 72 100 HP engine ? normally there is a connection on the remote shifter housing but there is no provision on mine.<br />Thanks,<br />Offshoreboat

I took my controller apart and found the grey wire just floaating around in there..<br /><br />Thats the one you want...<br /><br />cool motors for their age hey !!<br /><br />rgds<br /><br />Frank<br /><br />PS.. your guage should be set to 6P

The grey wire runs all the way through the controller loom from the powerhead.. <br /><br />its specifically for the tacho.. and I can't imagine that you wouldn't have one since it is standard fixture on those motors, (according to the wiring diagrams I have amassed)<br /><br />all you need is ignition, earth and signal..<br /><br />if I remember correctly:<br />ignition => purple<br />earth => black<br />signal => grey<br /><br />all of those should be in your controller, (use a test light to get the ignition, because I vaguely remember seeing several purple wires. (they are probably all ignition)<br /><br />I got a meter or trailer cable (seven core) and ran that from control box to dash.. worked for me. :)<br /><br />regards<br /><br />Frank
