google.

You could also take measurements. Fit it not going to be a problem. Jon boats without motors hang out the back end of pickups all the time. Utility trailers are up to the challenge unless you mount a lot of gear and motor.

i dont think it is possible to put the boat in our dodge ram since the boat is 14ft long and the truck with the tailgate down is only 8ft

Bull butter. Throw it in the bed with the stern against the cab, put your gear, motor, etc. as close to the cab as you can, tie a safety rope on the bow handle, and get after it. People do it every day.;)

To answer your question: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200308245_200308245

The components to build this trailer (steel, hitch coupler, axle w/hubs, 2 tires and wiring kit) may be more expensive than just buying the trailer @ Harbor Freight.

Check around for used boat dealerships and boat salvage yards. When they junk out a boat, the trailer is the first thing they sell. They're a dime a dozen for such a little boat.

On the other hand, the Harbor Freight trailer has new tires and new bearings/hubs to take the worry and expense out of buying a used trailer. It's probably a better value.

Re: John Boat Trailer

As others have said, Harbor Freight has some pretty cheap trailers that you can modify to work. Attached is a picture of the one I built. I bought the 4 x 8 trailer from HF, used most of it. I added my own tounge, winch stand, bunks, and extended the fenders (purely for looks). I also welded the HF frame together because it was like a wet noodle after I bolted it together. The trailer was $250 and I had about $50 in extra materials/paint into it.

John: Great job on the above trailer. I used to pull the same basic trailer around with my jet ski and riding mower--probably put 50K on it. I'd just put bearing buddies on it--for ease of hub lubrication.

Re: John Boat Trailer

I did the Harbor Freight trailer thing too for my jon boat too. Bought one of their 42x48 trailers with 12" tires, added a 16' stick of 2.5x2.5 steel for the tongue, welded it up, painted it white Rusto, added some bunks and guide-ons. Been working great for 3 years now. Only thing that didn't work out well were the lights, had to change them out for marine grade lights.
