Hi folks, Arco sent me the new trim motor, got it hooked up and good to go, they closed by the time I got the reservoir together and the motor is jammed, it appears to be a problem in the valve body.

anyone talk me through trouble shooting that part, or have a schematic for it?

2 gears, a couple ball bearings what could be wrong?

any help would be fantastic.

I'll be sitting at teh work bench with head in hands going 'hmmm' feel free to interupt!

Hi ya' eaw....

Partner....talkin' ya' through a troubleshot on a TNT body would be one hard thing to do. Ya' really need an OEM manual.

Did you try running the motor before installing on the pump body?

With the motor off the pump, see if you can turn the little shaft in the pump the motor connects to. You may also want to flush the system out. Drain what you can and see if the motor will turn the pump.

But again, a manual would make things much much easier for ya'.

Re: Joe Reeves and any other OMC gurus

Oh, what I would give for a manual, believe me!

The shaft turns fine alone, when I hook the valve body, or TNT I guess it's called? up the motor tries to turn but won't.

putting a shaft in the TNT from the old trim motor I can not make it turn, it will go 1/16" one way and the same amount the other way.

I just unbolted the 4 bolts holding the body together and yeah, the ball bearings got loose on me.

anyway I'm in it now so try to talk me through it. I have the 2 gears, one is slotted to receive the shaft, I have three ball bearings and two springs and set into the base is a ball bearing that I can't get to move, I'm guessing there is a spring under it?

one ball bearing is very small and I see where that goes, the other two are the same size and I assume they go over the two holes either side of the gears, did I lose a spring? I only have one that will fit those bearings.

I don't understand yet how this works, I see the large spring with b.b. that is the return from the cylinders, I see the manual overide path, I don't see which hole is the feed?

is the ball bearing that is 'stuck ' in the base suppossed to be free?

putting oil in the feed and trying to blow it back out to see the route is doing nothing, neither is trying to find it from the other direction.

hey give it a shot, I can be taught, you can always walk away if it gets to be too much for you!

thanks!

Joe went on vacation, didn't he!?!

edit: thanks John, no answer yesterday or today, I'll try on monday.

the only hydraulic valve bodies I have found so far, in stock, are $180 with exchange. $250 for the motor and res. and another $200 is just too much, I'll go with out trim.

or sell the motor. yeah, I'm liking that idea! anyone interested? :p

EAW.... No, I'm not on vacation, just a case that I have no idea what to tell you other than what you already know. The Oil pump is obviously jammed for some reason and will require replacing as it's not a serviceable item.

My OMC book lists that component as being around $500 (Whew!). The prices you quoted are apparently discount prices, although it's still a tough pill ($$$) to swallow.

When you get a chance, send me a few pictures of your pump to my e-mail address. I'd want to be able to view the manual release valve area, the two hydraulic line hook up areas etc.

I have a couple oil pumps still in stock and might be able to help you with that problem. Just remind me of this post.

ReevesJ32@aol.com

Re: Joe Reeves and any other OMC gurus

Did you try turning the pump with screwdriver, before you installed the motor. Sometimes the shaft is too long on the motor and will lock the pump.

EAW.... If you look closely at my last post, you'll see my e-mail address there (grin), but to repeat it..... ReevesJ32@aol.com .

If you're speaking of the OMC parts manual picture, don't bother as I have all of that. I just assumed that you would have a digital camera and could click off a bunch of shots.

Contact me and if you don't have a digital camera, I'll reply with some shots of what I've got and you can compare that with your pump.
