Saw Ao Old Queen Today And Noticed The Drain
Was A Simple Hole In The Hull With Abolt And Washers
As Seals. Is This Normal For This Model?

The early Alumacrafts, at least at the smaller end of the line, came with no transom drain. I believe they were dealer installed. A fellow just put one in on a Model R I saw that dates from the mid-1950s. That will have to be undone...he used what is commonly available today which is plastic and brass. Nothing like the nice aluminum 3 piece setup with washers that I believe the dealers installed years ago. I think a bolt with washers is a makeshift solution given the desire to drain and the lack of good parts for these boats. Others may have a clear recollection or better knowledge, but most of the pre-1960 boats had what I described above. A couple had thru bottom drains....

I noticed today in my '63 AlumaCraft catalog that drain plugs were a factory option by that point....
