Howdy, Farmor.
Welcome to the board.

To get the proper 50:1 ratio you would use 20ml of TC-W3 rated outboard oil to one Litre of petrol.

The Johnson and Evinrude small twins are among the best outboards ever made. There are hundreds of 40 and 50 year old examples still in regular use.

If you can supply us with the Model number from the tag on the mount we can verify the year of manufacture. :)

Hi, JB, would my 1964 5.5 evinrude also be 50:1? If so, that explains a lot of smoke. Grumps.

Hmmm.

Model CD19 is a 1962!! CDL would be a long (20")shaft. You should be using a 24:1 to 32:1 mix for fuel, Farmor!!

Change the oil recommendation to 30ml per liter of petrol. :)

Grumps:

You really ought to post your questions on a new thread rather than piggybacking.

Your '64 should be able to use 50:1 mix. I believe '64 was the year they changed the spec. on mix. :)

Hello, Farmor.

Yes. I think that the distance from the top of your transom to the anti-ventilation plate is about 20". That is known as a "long" shaft. A "short" shaft would be 15".

Ideally, the height of your boat's transom should be about the same as the shaft "length".

Your engine should weigh about 60lb.

Good luck. :)
