Question for those that have experience running personal watercraft on rivers with wind and fast currents. Was on the Niagara river today and slowed to a stop to adjust my life jacket and leaned over to look at something in the water when the wife not thinking leaned over as well and over we went. Today was very windy and the swells were 1-2 foot with white caps. In the 5 seconds we went over the ski was about 8 feet away when we got our bearings. I had to fight like hell to get to the ski to get it before it got away from us due to the strong winds. Do any of you know of any type of lanyard that would allow you to stay connected to the ski to prevent this scenario? We were very close to not being able to get back to it. Thanks for any feedback.

We have been plying the Upper Niagara on 'skis for almost 30 years now. Not a problem.

First of all, take a USPS safety course to learn how to operate it. Secondly, balancing is a natural act, and all riders must be in sinc. Learn how to work together.

IMHO, a tether would be a potential danger. You need to be free.

8 feet is minuscule. A few paddles and your'e there. Learn how to turn the 'ski upright if it tips over.

Five different skis and haven;t fallen off yet.
