Jet Drive vs. Outboard

I live on a shallow weedy lake and thought a jet drive would be a good choice rather than dragging weeds on my outboard. We have a few PWC running around and they don't seem to have any complaints with the weeds but the boaters do. Also, I'd like to bring my boat in closer to the shore and tilting the 75hp Evinrude is a pain. Any opinions on this?

Re: Jet Drive vs. Outboard

We have a seado sportster with twin 85s, rotax power. We live a near the waccamaw river and certain times of the year the leaves and grass and floating material of any kind, get in the intake grate and periodically you have to stop and kill the power. Then you have to wait for a sec or two and pull the grate release lever to rid yourself of all the debri sucked in. The out board on a weedy lake is the way to go..

I don't think you are going to be any better off, a jet will suck up weeds from the bottom in shallow water especially if you go slow or try to take off just get a power trim unit and keep the out board plus jet boats steer like crap, that I know all about.
