Anyone know what a jet change in the carbs would do to performance if the size is increased a number or two? More fuel burned? This is a 60hp 2000 2sroke Merc. The factory jets are #64s. I know leaner is bad on 2 srokes (heat) but richer is okay? Would wide open throttle speed rise? I am hopeing someone has experimented with this. Thanxs

Re: jet change

Do you have any reason to beleive that one or more cylinder is running lean? How do the spark plugs look after a nice ride?

Re: jet change

Gas engines are designed to run at a specific fuel:air ratio. Too lean you burn it down. Too rich you burn excess fuel with little or no benefit in performance. Unless you have a problem with altitude, or a lean/rich issue, you are wise to leave jets as they are. Run wide open for a couple of miles. Chop the throttle and immediately kill the engine. Pull the plugs. If they indicate a rich condition perhaps a jet change is necessary. If they are a nice light tan leave them alone.
