This is the first thing that I have ever heard come out of his mouth that made sense.

He was a bit critical of the gov moving these evacuees so far away from New Orleans.

He said that Halliburton should hire these NO citizens to help rebuild their own city.

Best idea yet, lets hope it works and we can get rid of this government dependency cycle.

Ken

I say we abandon that city.
Its prone to flooding and is a drain on everyone else everytime it happens.

We should leave the French Quarter as in one instance they were smart and built on high ground.

Jesse' just lookin for another handout.

He's just afraid the Dem constituency will be diluted into Red States where they can't be organized and bussed to the polls on election day...think about it. They (the poor folks of NO) were right where JJ and his crew wanted them - poor and concentrated.

The second thing out of his mouth in the televised news conference was that its a racial issue. Whites are getting better treatment than anyone else!! Every one of the Rainbow Push people behind him started clapping and hollering.

Leave it to him to be the first to play the race card in this....the worst tradgedy to hit this country since 9/11.

Makes me sick.

Yep, for sure. They could bus them to the polls, but couldn't manage to get them out of town for saftey's sake. Guess we all know now where the priorities lie, don't we Dems? ;)

It is a great idea as long as the new employee's have the necessary skills to be employed by Haliburton.

I like the idea a lot. we all know very few of them had jobs in the first place... it would be left up to them to show up at work or not have a home. :D

Give them 3 years to show progress on rebuilding or bulldozers will finish the job.

Re: Jesse Jackson actually made some sense!!!

Ole Jesse is a bit slow or he read my post from last week, but it was shot down here.

................I think with all the people currently unable to work in Lousiana alone we should do everything in our power to aide them and their families. However, I feel a good solution to rebuilding would be to put every victim of this tradegy between the age of 18-60 and in good health to work. There is no reason they can't help with clean up and rebuilding. Unskilled labor jobs will be plentiful, and will last a long time.

Maybe our government and/or other organizations should say, we'll take care of your family if you come to work for us.

The Feds released 106 million to be used for 25,000 jobs. Hopefully the majority of these funds will actually get in the right hands.

In Socialist Madison,WI a developer was proposing a building project in an area of low income housing. The people living there Demanded to be given jobs and to be trained. It got pretty quit after the announcement that drug tests would be required of applicants.

Jesse will always use the job card. Fact is there are jobs, just not those of a CEO, or bank VP for those without skills. Spend the $$ on training. Has anyone asked? Do You Want A Job?? Likely 25% will. The rest I doubt will work when there is plenty to be had for free.

Jesse Jackson making sense?

Get real. He couldn't tell me, coherently, how to get to the nearest restroom.

I'll tune into Jesse if I want to hear "race baiting".

amazing. so i've learned from this post that most of the people in NO were poor, black, uneducated, lazy thieves that use drugs.

"everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences. no one can eliminate prejudices -- just recognize them."

Re: Jesse Jackson actually made some sense!!!

I got this from another board..........

This is from an anchorman from Baton Rouge, La.
"Yesterday the Rev. Jesse Jackson showed up in Baton Rouge, I wished he would
have showed up in Sheriff Harry Lee's office as we would have NEVER heard
from him again, he said, "Bush has NOT appointed a Single Black to head up
this Katrina Relief, the Black Caucus and Black Leaders all over America are
upset with him putting the Black Folks on the side and it is OUR people who
are sitting on their Roof Tops waiting for Rescue, OUR people who are
standing in line at the Superdome waiting on Food, Water and a Ride to a
safe black, OUR people who have been locked down in Poverty and so on"

George Sell the Anchorman for TV 9 news responded to Jesse, "Rev. Jackson,
the Mayors of New Orleans and Baton Rouge are Black, the Police Chief's of
New Orleans and Baton Rouge are Black, the Head of the LA State Police is
Black, the Head of the Army conducting the Army's operation on the Ground in
New Orleans is Black, the Congressman from New Orleans is Black and for the
last 40 years, the leaders of LA have been members of the Democratic Party,
YOUR Party, don't blame us like you are doing, look in the Mirror, you pull
the Race Card any time you don't get your way, we are in a Terrible Crisis
and right now we need to come together and here you come to Louisiana and
holler Racism, just like you do, it is NEVER EVER your fault, ALWAYS someone
else, but here you are sitting High and Dry, why don't you go out in to the
waters where they are shooting at the Rescue personnel and help in the
Rescue???' My hats off to George Sell for putting him in his place, Harry
Lee would have put Jesse in his place. This is a time to come together and
work together, not the time to Pull the Race Card but this does NOT suprise
me!!
