Jekyll island shore fishing

This weekend, my Boy Scout troop will be going down to Jekyll island for a 50 mile bike ride. I probably will get some fishing time. What bait should I use? Normally I would buy a tub of shrimp, but am not sure I can get a trip to the convenience store. What would I be able to get locally that would be effective down there? I usually use a steel double hook rig with a 2 oz. pyramid sinker at the bottom.

I knew if you got there that someone would help, there are people from the area as you have found out. I read your post and the replies this AM.
