JB Weld or alternative

Hi,
after some checks and feedback from this forum I saw that there has been done a repair (no clue how long ago) on the block, probably bad winterizing. I will remove the exhaust manifold to have a better look at it, but I expect it was repaired with JD Weld or similar (I see the grey repair "stuff").
While test-running the engine I saw some water was leaking in that area. So not fully sealed anymore.
Next step is to check the repair and grind out the bad area's and fix it again. Hopefully it will hold again for a while (I know there are risks)

My question: on the forum and on-line many people refer to using JB-Weld.
Do you also suggest this? Or are there already better alternatives these days on the market?
I even saw "JB-Weld Marine"... Or some type of Epoxy?

Thank you for the feedback, Yorick

I would use JB
If it's cleaned really good it should hold. Put first layer on real thin. Once dry, clean and use acetone, then go for next coat. Repeat until thickness is obtained

I can think of 2 better alternatives. The 1st is to replace the manifold. This would be my #1 route. The 2nd best would be to remove the manifold and take it to get welded professionally. My last route would be to JB weld or Marine tex it CORRECTLY. The word correctly means to follow the directions exactly as stated on the directions. Proper prep is monumental for a good repair. Most that do a JB weld repair will do the minimum as far as cleaning and prep of the surfaces to be repaired and assume the JB weld will be the miracle cure on its own which is surely not the case.Charlie
