I have bought a 40 hp japanese built Mariner. 40EO 6E9 S 150368
I can't find the year or the correct carb kit. I believe these are yamaha engines, would a yamaha carb kit fit. If so how do I find the right one.
The motor has to be choked to get it moving. Then the choke has to be pushed in at the just the right time to keep it running. Once the choke is all the way in the motor doesn't run at full speed at wide open throttle. The motor has always been winterized but has sat for a while. Will a carb clean do the trick?

Not sure about the kits..but it def. sounds like it needs a carb rebuild...If you are going to to through all the trouble to take them apart to clean..might as well rebuild them.

I have this same motor and am having the same trouble. Did you ever find the correct carb kit?

You should open a new thread with your request as this one is over 5 years old. Include your s/n.
