Hey guys, how do I Set the hight of my engine on the jack plate on my boat, its a 1990 stratos with a 150. Were do I need to start. The engine is sitting very low right now. When I tilt it up it does not take long for it to hit the cowl on the back of the boat. I've been told when I get it set right it should throw a good rooster tail running down the lake is this true.

Re: !!! Jack plate help !!!

When you have an outboard without a jack plate it is best that the anti-vent plate be about even to an inch above the keel. The fact that you have a jack plate means you can rig a little higher do to the curvature of the water leaving the pad of the boat. One thing I would recommend is to install a water pressure gauge to get the best trim adjustment. I would try to raise the jack plate as much as possible governed only by a loss of water pressure or prop cavitation.
