I am in the process of swapping motors on my 16' aluminum bass boat. My current outboard is bolted to transom with a std bolt pattern. The motor I am putting on is a 9.9 that has clamps and two holes for bolting.

Is there such a thing as an adapter / jack plate that would allow me to use my existing holes in the transon and then mount the new motor to the plate / adapter?

Thanks for the input...Will the mini jacker or transom elevator work even though I have a long transom already?

Neither product use the universal mounting pattern. You'll have to fill the holes. Some people just fill them with silicone and that works. But I cut dowel to size and glue the plugs in with 5-minute epoxy. If you cut the plugs a bit short, you can fill the rest with body putty or similar product and sand things flat. I just did this yesterday to a used boat I bought.

The elevator is for motors under 20Hp, using a longshaft motor on a shortshaft transom. Anything bigger is pushing your luck.

I wanto raise my motor on one of my racing boats, so I would need a jack plate or a transom elevator, that is why I'm asking which is better for tough abuse ....

sacnho, take a picture to a aluminum fabricator, get a price for them to build a jack plate without the rise. basically just a box, take cardboard and make a template of where you want the mounting holes. then you can patent it and market it.
