Good Morning J.B
I want to thank you for the reply on Compression. I do have another question relating to that same engine. You mentioned that the 90 PSi seems low for the 1992 225 v6 looper Johnson. I have heared that this is close to a new spec of around 90-100 out of the factory. Is this true for this motor. If so I may be in better shape than once thought.
Is it possible to change the wrings with the heads off , or does this require a tear down of the powerhead (ouch)?!
Is it a major job?
These motors had about 100 psi compression all cylinders when new. You have a galled piston number one cylinder, causec by overheat, overload, or lack of lubrication. Remove cylinder head and inspect cylinder wall and top of piston. Replacing rings major work. You might get lucky and have blown head gasket.

Clanton said it, Mattash. If you are lucky, it's a gasket. If you aren't, you need to overhaul the powerhead. :(

Good luck.

Reds sky at night. . .
JB :)
