It's new to me . 6hp 1976 long shaft . It has no spark nadda zero zilch . I removed sanded points, magnetos and flywheel I can understand one cylinder or weak spark but none anywhere ? My tester (pinky finger jambed into boot pointer finger on spark plug hole ) says nothing in either . Thoughts?

The only things common to both are the stop button and the breaker cam. Well, also the flywheel key but you would have noticed that.

measure the 2 coil secondary resistance from boot to the engine frame should see 4-7 kOhms sometimes the plug wire breaks internally see picture of 2 identical failures in the bend

you may as well redo all theelectricals ....check the coils for cracks use metallic plug wire not carbon

Changed points and condensers . Plenty'ospark now . Be wary if you need to purchase these alot of people myself included are receiving point sets where the plastic bushing that slides over the pivot is too small . It was my first time doing points of any sort so I diddnt know any better and tapped mine on when it wouldn't fit . That was a mistake and destroyed it. Price of education I suppose. There is a guy on youtube who has videos on the water pump, points , recoil and carburetor on the 70s 6 hps and a bunch of other motors . Good videos that helped me out significantly. RMD creations is the name of his channel
