Got the new Bass Pro "Fishing Master" catalogue...crankbaits $2.65 to $21.95 each...so, if I just buy the expensive lure, I'll definately catch fish, right? Lots more fish? But I have to get multiples of each of the 162 colors, right?

Painted to the finest detail...on a lure that runs 7 or 15 feet deep, that a bass will have about one fraction of one second to decide whether to strike or not.

Then over to the chapter on soft plastics, about 375 pages, each with 100s of different colors not to mention sizes.

Every single lure in the book claims to be absolutely essential equipment for catching fish. I'm not sure I could even identify the basics if I had to.

What's my point? I dunno...but I'm starting to remember why I spent last year chasing white bass...catching limit after limit on three, maybe four lures tops. Tell me again, why is it I want to catch more black bass in '06?

Yes, I just got mine too. I didnt order anything from last years so dont want to ruin a perfect record!

I have time and again proven many Bass fishermen wrong about certain baits. Just something I like to do. Ya, Im sick!

There are a few times when only one bait will work, but those times are few and far between. I think I proved to myself last year that Bass hang on to Senko worms longer than most other, but I still use lots of imitations. Im a firm beleiver that if it moves, a Bass will eat it!

Don't buy one of everthing thinking it'll help.
Thats just crazy.
You have to buy TWO just in case you loose one that was actually working.

Got mine last week and immediately sat down started looking at it, for swim baits mainly. It's the only type of bait I'm lacking. I had to asked my girlfriend what I was doing before I went to the mailbox  :D

got mine last week! like gonefishie, sat down emediately and started gandering at all the pages. i wondered if people used some of that stuff. last year i must have used only 5 or 6 different baits. and a couple of different colors on each. 25 dollars a bait  that's a half a tank of gas!!

I see that "Swim baits" are being played up this year. My wife keeps rubbing in that her "Banjo Lures" are really just swim baits and have worked for her for years in spite of people saying they're a scam. True, they have done a good job for her. She only uses 3 baits Spinner, Senko or Banjo. Catches nearly as much as I do with twice as many lures.

bought a set of banjolures...couldn't keep up with all the little pieces...its a very good plastic...get the same effect with a fluke.

I think a "swim bait" is more like a sassyshad or storm wildeye...plastic minnow on a jighead...banjo is more of a jerk bait dontcha think?

come to think of it, just about any blonde can be a jerkbait...

Of all the bait that I take with me when I go out I always end up going to the same few $1 jigs and 4"worms from walmart! They just always seem to get the job done. I just can't see spending $6 on a bag of worms and $20 on a lure when the cheep ones have worked great for years! The only bait I am willing to spend a little more money on is a spinner.. The $1 ones just don't move all that great in the water.

I've got to hand it to Gary Yamamoto and his Senko's. I've A-B'd them against other brands of "Wacky" style worms and the Senko's always come out on top by 30%. I found out about them from a seminar put on by Mark Zona. He felt that the sand mixture made them heavier and caused them to fall differently than the competition. It also makes them more fragile, meaning that you use more. At $5.99 a bag the relative price is high but the results are the payoff for me. I've got a lot more invested in other equipment. It's all relative.

Somebody needs to tell Jeremiah T Bagwell to stop doing stuff like that. It could cause wide spread PANICS and next thing we know we'll be paying 10 or 20 bucks for a bag of 10 senkos. He was right about Gary Yamamoto being a very successful business man. He owns the largest herd of Wagyu Kobe cattle in the U.S. These produces the most expensive steak money can buy.
