Ok.
I've solved my bad or not starting problem with my pre 84 80hp by renewing the Stator and while doing that I renewed the wiring between the switchbox and the coils.

I've tuned the engine as per the manual. But some things worry me;

1) When the rpm (800) and mixture etc. is set when in forward gear, then when its put into neutral the revs go up to about 1150 rpm. Is this right, when the gears have to be engaged.

2) When setting the ignition advance at 5-8degs atdc, I found that if the advance is set more at about 10 or more the motor runs faster and better. Should I stick to the Manual or set it as the motor needs it for best running?

:)

Re: Its been a good day for me

The main thing I'm worried about is if the RPM is too high in neutral, when engaging the gears.???

Thanks
