Re: Its a toad!

Toad? TOAD??

What is it with bass fishermen? They all speak from the same odd script about fish and fishing.

A decent size bass used to be a decent size bass but then it became a "chunk". Don't know who started it, but they ALL said it ALL the time.

Then Bill Dance called a decent size bass a "toad". Now one must say "toad" to be recognised as a bass fisherman. What happened to "hog" and "cow"? Anyone but me still call them "bass"?

Another "in" line is , "That's what I am talking about!" while playing a fish. Bull. They weren't talking about anything at all.

I would prefer that TV fishermen take their script direction from Jose Wejebe or Hank Parker. At least they use more than 20 words of our language per show, and they use them correctly.

BTW, BF AKA LD, nice BASS. :D

I also noted the FroggToggs, BF/LD. Hands down the best foul weather gear available.

Re: Its a toad!

 Hey, JB: add this one: "Now, THAT'S a bass."

Shoot, what would we do without our cliches? Think how efficient they are in the passing of information. A buddy and I still refer to "The Wily Lunker." But then, we are Romantics and very old fashioned. Fish is a fish is a fish.
----------------------
"You don't now it until you can name it." - R.B.

I guess you are right, PR.

In my family any musky over 50" is a "moby", as in "Moby Musky".

Man, I wish my definition of foul weather and the remedy of it is a set of FroggToggs like you JB. Foul weather to me and my neck of the woods would take an insulated Gortex bib and parka.

Re: Its a toad!

I'm not sure when all of the slang terms for bass or odd words used to describe thier size began?
But, it was inevitable due to popularity of the sport of bass fishing.

When Muskie fishing acheives the same status here on earth, the odd names and terms will follow.
