Around four years ago I built my first computer, a little outdated now but completly upgradeable. I initially had two hard drives, and it has a full gig of ram and it`s presently a 2 gig AMD. and a 128 videocard that`s TV compatable. Works great at home and does my Photograghy great. Anyway, to the point. I thought I had defective hard drives all along, having to put one in about every year. It would start not wanting to boot up but if I whacked the case, sometimes it would, then it would die. I`d buy another hard drive and install it and things would be fine for about a year with only ocational no boot times. It started this again recently so I thought that just maybe it had a bad Hard drive cable. I purchased the very expesive sheilded cables when I built it originally and replaced it with one of those cheap ones you get with a new hard drive. Everything is fine now and I think the computer is a slight bit faster with the cheap cable. Glad I saved all those old hard drives.
