It is coming - FALL

Everyone has been tight lipped about it......

A few mornings in the low 40's and even some in the high 30's.......

A few over achieving trees are starting to turn.......

The media started the landslide this morning and even mentioned it over the air about the leaves turning color......

AND The Farmer's Almanac (released today) predicts bitter cold in the Northeast

The "normal" progression is to see our first hard frost immediately following Labor Day weekend

We have had such a great Summer too.

Actually fall is my favorite time of year, have the lake{s} mostly to myself, apple cider time, my 'dear' hunting seasons begins, the grass goes dormant, etc etc

Fall is a beautiful time of year except for those of us along the Gulf Coast. September is peak hurricane season for many of us and the hurricane train has left the station.

I hope our forecaster's are wrong about Earl and none of our east coast friends suffer from its rath.

I can predict that. It's always bitter cold up your way in the winter.
I'm hoping to be boating late into October unless things change. It's been the hottest summer on record this year.

As much as I do like Fall, I'm not ready to stop swimming and hanging out in the water.

Fall boating is fun tho, nothing like cruising down the Ohio river and seeing the trees and everything.

Hopefully I won't have to winterize until the first or second week of November.

Outside temperatures are starting to get tolerable here. The sweetgum leaves are beginning to turn already at my house. I am looking forward to making significant progress on my project boat over the next couple of months. I was in a bad place this time last year and wasn't able to work on it. We are planning a good bit of running and biking activities for the fall as well. Fall and Spring are my favorite seasons. Winters, though not as bad as what our neighbors up north have, are bleak, depressing, and seem to last forever. Summer is hot, humid, and miserable to me.

The most memoriable Fall I ever had was October 1991. I went boating on the Mississippi. The weather was great. The next day I was continplating on storing the boat. I was going to put it off till the next weekend but I went ahead and stored it for the Winter. It was a good decission because 2 days later we had the halloween blizzard which dropped 27.5 inches of snow in 36 hours.

Well, Bob the only thing I now have to look forward to is coming up to Vermont to go skiing at Stowe on Mt. Mansfield in your backyard. And football starts up in a couple of weeks. Look at the bright side of things, you now get to have the pleasure of putting your boats to sleep for the winter.

Actually...... I can see Killington and Pico from my house........ Stowe and Mt Mansfield are North of me.

Yup the Ski season is usually is open in Oct. I am fortunate this year and have a place to store my boat in a garage this winter...... actually it is a trade..... I plow that property and get storage in return.
