I use my X-91 in my Bayliner and just put the transducer in the bilge. All it takes is a little water down there and Waa Laa- I get perfect readings, even at 50 mph. I HATE transom mount 'ducers. Always getting hit by debris, spraying water up in the back of the boat, etc. I like the clean way a thru-hull works.

I just placed the 'ducer in the bilge right under the crank pulley in the engine compartment. I attached the cable so it wouldn't get caught in anything and it works fine. My hull is solid glass underneath with no air pockets- it works great.

If your livewell wall is the hull of the boat and the glass is solid with no voids, it will work. The only drawback to my set-up is that the temp doesn't read the water temp of the water I am on- it reads the bilge water temp. After a half an hour of running, I'll anchor down and start fishing. The water temp will show 95 degrees sometimes. LOL Don't think so.

UFM82
