I just attempted to put the new 2011 seapro into service and had nothing but trouble trying to start it. I've some of the threads on here and some people love these motors and some don't. The motor seemed to be flooding so I took it to the local merc dealer. He couldn't run the serial number and could get no info. He did take the carb apart and found nothing wrong other than he limited the choke a little and he got it to start. I have not picked it up yet. As some of you know, it is a Japanese made Canadian motor. I'm seeing on this forum that parts are available, but the merc guy said not from mercury.
Can you get parts from Tohatsu as I read it is basically a 1996 Tohatsu 25 hp? I got it from AFA Marine and yes he is just a broker. When I told them the problems with a NEW motor, they reffered me to their supplier. Not what I wanted to hear. Any thoughts or suggestions as I am frustrated as hell

If that dealer can not run the serial number, than never go to him again. he is a hack. That motor should still be under warranty.

I just purchased one of these in August 2012. Just used it this duck season and have had trouble getting the idle adjusted and keeping the motor started once in gear. Did you get you problem resolved and what was it?

Yes, resolved the problem. In my case, the throttle positon needs to be set exactly on "start" when you pull the cord. Starts fine now. It IS a Tohatsu motor with a merc decal on it. Parts come from a Tohatsu dealer. Slightly more cc's than a 25 merc and some stainless internal parts for salt water use.
