I was one of the many that was continually frustrated when it came time to fill up my boat at the marina. Slow Slow Slow with almost a 100% chance of gas being puked back out at me and onto my boat (grrrr). So, I read everything I could get my hands on from iBoats relative to this issue.
I pulled and replaced the vent hose, fuel lines, inspected the NPT fittings on top of the tank for blockage and installed a water/fuel separator. The old vent line did have a good amount extra length to it that wasn't really needed - so I shortened it about a foot and a half. Additionally, I installed the Racor Lifeguard 3-Stage Fuel / Air Separator and this device works.
Yesterday, after all the effort, i pulled up to the marina pump with fingers crossed to fill up... I was able to fill it up with not a drop being puked back and was able to pump gas into the boat quite fast. So, for those out there experiencing this issue dont resign yourself to it, in most cases it can be solved.
Thanks to all the folks on this form that continually post a path to resolving such issues. I am so relieved that I no longer have to be that guy holding people up while I pump a tea spoon at a time into my boat! Speaking of which, its time to hit the river!
Enjoy.
