Finally got my engine fired up today. (1998 Force 120) with remote control mounted on center console. She seems to be idled pretty high, but that's not the worst of it. When I put her in forward gear and push the throttle forward the engine RPMs don't increase until the throttle is almost completely forward. At that point with a good deal of force on the throttle lever I can increase the RPMS but they quickly tach out and then engine runs away. It wouldn't idle back down with the throttle and wouldn't shut off with the ignition switch. Thank God I had the Cowl still off and I was able to manually shut it off at the carburetor linkage. I have to think the throttle cable needs adjusting (bigly) but I really don't know how to go about it. Any thoughts?
