This is the boat ramp at Hazards Beach that I used last fall to get on the Hudson River. That bridge is the George Washington. A most impressive sight from the water. <br /><br />This photo was captured off of Google Earth. I've been using it to locate all the boating locations and launch ramps that I want to explore this summer. It allows you to save the location so its easy to retreive later. <br /><br />

Beautiful pic Mark....<br />The Hudson is a cool river esp up by West Point, Newburgh, Bannerman's island & north....<br />None of the cars on the GWB contribute to global warming either! :cool: :D ....JK

I've wasted so much time on Google Earth it's incredible. I've found all the houses I used to live in, military bases around the world where I've been stationed, schools, places I've camped...it goes on and on. I'd do it a lot more if I had DSL, but my connection is via satellite, and while not real slow, it's not real fast either.

Its really great I found the pier and beach in Oceanside Ca. Where I used to surf when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton.

Speaking of Google Earth,......<br /><br />I just booted it up,+ was able to zoom in on My present House,.... Everything Focused perfectly,....<br />Yet the other day it would only Focus to about 2000'+,.. Today is Much Sharper,... focused down to about 500'el....I can See my Boats,+ All.....<br /><br />Now,.. My new waterfront houses,.... At higher than 10,000',... It just Blurs to Colors,+ No definition At All....<br /><br />So,.....My Question Is,.......<br />Is there a button that'll sharpen the pic,... Or is it just a Bad Blurry data base,..???.....

My brothers live across the pond (westward) and need some entertainment, so we were playing a google earth trivia game. You can email a picture of what you are looking at to someone (use the small envelope icon).<br /><br />We would find something that they should recognize, and email it to them, and without looking at the coordinates, they would guess.<br /><br />Excellent ones are: landmarks where you grew up, panama canal (my favorite), white house, statue of liberty, etc.

I have the same problem as Bondo. Only metro areas and popular area are in high rez, the rest are a blurry green. Most of the lakes around here don't show up in detail. :( Still a cool site though.<br /><br />QC and Mark brought up a good point. Any higher rez and the divorce rate's gonna go up! :p <br /><br />spots

Funny, as some of the pics are the same as those on Microsoft Terra Server. I think it was there that I got the date of the shot over my house and do in fact know I was on a two week biz trip . . . I just use it to tease the wife, but things are gettin' really weird with tools like Google Earth and webcams.<br /><br />Times they are a changin', there is a webcam I have been playing with that you can manipulate from your desktop (there are quite a few out there I understand). Anyway, I literally zoomed in on a boat and could see what was in the glove box :eek: Seems like we are entering a whole new age of surveillance . . .

Bill may be trying to imitate google earth, but I can't even see my house. I've located my street, but it does not show any houses...anywhere.<br /><br />I am using Windows ME...sure do wish I could download google earth :( <br />I have lots of time to waste today and google earth would be a good time killer. Crappy!

bill gates has had terraserver up and running long before google earth came about. :) sorry to disappoint<br /><br />terraserver.microsoft.com
