You have to make a reservation through the NYS parks

I like Long Island which is Just north of the town of lake george

I have launched and parked here for 11 years as tight as it is i have been to other places on the lake that were even worse

It is very narrow one lane in and out with BUT they are really nice people

When your on the ramp stay really close to the dock

On the other side is the Lake George Boat Company which is also one of the best places to buy gas

Just keep in mind that there is NO drinking water and it is a PITA to get to stores after you launch

We allways bring a LOT of dock line and fenders as the T-STORMS move through very fast BUT are pretty intense

The firework in town on Thursday night are a must see :D

Re: Island camping at lake george ny

tommays,

It has been awhile, but your description and location sounds like the ramp I used about 10 years ago. We had planned to use the southern state launch, but found out it was closed to boats when beach was open. We were directed to the closest, but private ramp. We had no problems launching and retrieving our 14' boat. The Lake was great, especially around the islands. We could spot fish in 20' of water. Hopefully, the lake has not changed.

If it is the same ramp, we must have caught them on a bad day. After we pulled out, and was starting out the driveway, a woman came out screaming about paying and threatening to call the cops. I had paid the launch fee on arrivial, so was taken back by this. She was screaming that I owed her parking fees for the car and trailer for the day. I tried to explain to her, I thought all was included. I had never been charged for parking along with launch fees. She indicated that the ramp was primarily used by lake property owners, and they didn't leave vehicles. OK, I begrungingly paid the parking fees. Unfortunatly, a great day ended on this note.

Just in case, I would ask specificly about parking fees. No need to go through the embarresment and mis-communication I had.
