Going to the Keys in June for some surface and bottom action. I bought an ABU 6500 C3 last year. Not sure if this will work(got it for stripper). I am contemplting buying a offshore spinning combo. The Penn 8500SS and 9500SS have caught my eye. Anybody have a good outfit to recommend? I would like to keep it to under $250. TIA

Beernbarge

6500, spooled up with 15lbs. test, on a 7 foot heavy action rod is one of my main weapons of choice for bottom fishing, surface too....

New outfit, probably not necessary, unless your heading way offshore after some crazy big reef dwelling grouper or if marlin is your pursuit...

A medium spinning outfit is always fun to keep on hand too...

Re: Islamorada Fishing questions

We will also be doing some surface fishing as well. Going for Tuna, Mahi and hopefully Wahoo. This will not be guided. But these guys have been going this for years. I currently have the C3 with 20 lb test. Should i move it down to 15?
This will only be my second salwater excursion. First time was chartered and we limited out grouper and snapper out of Destin after a hurricane. This time it's 5 days in the Keys. Damn life is good.
Thank You for the reply.
