Is Vessel View worth it?

I'm working through an issue with my 4.3 MPI alpha one where it's giving a warning beep. I've tried several things (people were very helpful in another thread) but the beeps still aren't clearing. My mechanic, who I like, has said he needs to get it to pull the codes, but he's a week behind.

I've looked at Vessel View, but I can't tell if it's a decent app or just a kludge. Does anyone have any direct experience with it? It would be nice if in a situation like this it would actually tell me what was wrong.

I have VesselView 4 on my 2016 Mercruisers. It does not show fault codes, only warnings, which are not very helpful. The only value that I have found with vessel view is that it puts the more important engine and outdrive information in one screen, rather than looking at a variety of discrete gauges.

Maybe the later versions of V-V show fault codes . . .

But, If you want to find fault codes and diagnose issues, you would need the Rinda Diacom software and a laptop. Often you will not get a fault code, but other issues relating to sensors and the like, when you have alarm beeps or warnings.

Checked that. Checked Power Steering. Checked trim fluid bottle. Engine temp seems good. Oil temp seems good. Fires up and runs okay. I have no clue.
disconnect engine temp alarm switch, oil pressure alarm switch, and drive lube bottle switch test to see if it goes away. If it does reconnect one by one to see which switch is tripping it

I had an intermittent alarm on a new boat. Nobody could figure it out. It turned out to be a simple wire plug (male/female) was not engaged locked together causing a poor connection.

As for vessel view, I have it on my little outboard, mainly cause I just have the basic gauges, rpm, speed, volts, where VV has more engine data when its running.. But it's not a secret fix for anything. More of an info display which is "nice to have".

Vessel view is just glorified screen showing gauge information

I bought the last version of vessel view and you can see all the gauges info in one screen as well as the maintenance the hours of the motor and helps you to have everything in the same app. respect the fault found shows you the current fault when you connected and not historic faults.
the faults is showing like photo 1
maintenance scheadule photo 2
and the gauges you can read like photo 3
(im currently having a overheating problem)

The 521-20 is a fault/warning message that the engine got too hot. It does not mean that the sensor is bad though . . .

If you want to get full diagnostic info, find faulty sensors, etc., then VesselView will probably get you only part way there. For same/similar money you could get the Rinda Diacom software. That is certainly what you mechanic needs, not V-V.

Hi. Some perhaps confusing info being posted here.
The vessel view mobile will absolutely and most definitely give you any and all fault reading and description too. No doubt about it.
Well worth it for that alone. A must have for any mpi, especially one with only analog instruments currently. Game changer.
In the meantime…tell me more. How many beeps and at what kind of time intervals apart.
