I caught one rainbow trout in about an hour at Lake Ralphine this morning. It got stocked last week and is getting stocked a second time this coming week. Most people are still fishing the main hole but I always go to the back corner. Guess they haven't made it all the way back there yet. Thanks for the link! What fish are these eggs used to catch??

OH NO!!! Not the stupid hatchery troots!!!... they don't even have an adipose fin!!!

They use the roe bags to catch other slamonoids mainly, you may want to try them for the troots you're trying to catch.

if'n they were catfish roe, i'd suggest beer batter and fry 'em up...yummy! never tried trout. sounds gross but i was tricked into trying them and thought it was a piece of a fillet. mighty tasty imo.

Use them to catch more trout. We use to use salmon eggs for trout also. Rainbows love salmon eggs!!!

Great bait for salmon, steelhead and trout as mentioned^^, put them in little mesh bags and freeze them for future use.

If using for bait, try putting them in a mesh bag so they don't fall apart and attach the bag to your hook.

However, I would dredge them in egg and flour, or batter dip them and fry them. Yum!

yeah, its the only type I can get around here that I know of without a downrigger and slightly bigger boat to troll Lake Sonoma. I've been waiting for them to start stocking this lake all summer. The water was really warm. They're supposed to stock it back to back weeks so I may get back there this weekend if it rains, as that will can the crabbing trip.

Edit: Oh, and thanks to everyone with advice on how to use them. I don't think you'll catch me eating them though.

went out to the same lake today and caught 5. They seemed like different fish though. No eggs, just these white sacks inside them. This guy said these stocked trout are not fertile, so how did I pull these eggs out of one? the other day? Did they toss some in from a different place? any ideas?

The white sacks are gonads, you caught all males today.

Ah, ok. Thanks! So I guess these trout that were just stocked in the lake are fertile. Sounds good. Maybe it will keep the lake full year round if they are spawning on their own. The way this place gets fished out when stocked might not let that happen though.
