Greetings everyone....I am new to this site & forum and hope this is the right place to post. My 90 yr. old dad has a Seaswirl Bowrider which he sent for engine repair a year ago. He never told any of us about this till this month. I was able to locate the boat last week and found it uncovered and a complete mess. I'm looking to see if anyone could tell me if this boat is sellable or just sold for parts? The load rite trailer is in better shape. Thank you. Mike

First and foremost do you have any idea if the engine is in working order? What kind of engine is it, size, hp etc.? It the engine is working the cosmetic stuff may be worth it. A new carpet and a full clean-up on the seats and interior isn't too bad a job. Of course you would have to take a good luck at the hull etc. to ensure it is okay.

Getting the main components of the boat assessed, and establishing the current, future value will help. The engine, size, condition, and status, same with your outdrive, type and condition. Then there is the boat hull, transom stringers and floor. All should be evaluated and determined if they will need repair or replace. Make sure you have clear tittles and doc for both trailer and boat. The boat is repairable, just depends on how much time, money, and desire you have.

My first question is: Did anyone contact your father? Leaving a boat uncared-for is negligent and unprofessional on the part of a marina. SO: If it is an individual, a mechanic or a marina, take back the boat as soon as possible. Then decide what to do as posted above

Generally, when weeds are growing out of the hull it indicates a rotted floor,,, which indicates much more investigation required into what is below and behind the floor especially since they seem to be growing at the stern.

Oh wow that is sad to hear. Is the motor scattered around the yard/shop like that too? Fortunately seaswirl is a very high quality boat that does not use plywood in their transom or floors (although I'm not familiar with this model) so saving this one may be easier than others. If it was me I'd be pursuing legal action against the "mechanic" but I'm guessing this is not a full blown boat repair shop you're dealing with.

folks are assuming that the "mechanic" is at fault... if the boat was taken in uncovered and was abandoned by the owner it could have set in a back lot as is....... without knowing all of the interaction between owner and "mechanic" we can't know who is at fault for the condition.

Without an ASSEMBLED and working drive train the boat is parts/project at best... start by scooping out the debris and then go yo the car wash and wash the crud out... look for soft spots in the floor... if you find em the boat is landfill bait but you still have a trailer to sell

In perfect shape, that is a $5000-$6000 boat. Also that type, style boat is a common runabout. Don't spend lots of cash in trying to revive it.

I would put it on craiglist for $1000 obo. You'll get a buyer

looks like the engine is out. The way the weeds are growing, I bet it was holdnig a puddle of water on one side, but the big question is whether the plug is out and/or the bow raised. if it's holding water in the bilge in New York for a year I'd say it's history

Thank you ALL for your input. The family has decided to donate this boat. It can be cleaned up and we were able to find the motor.
