I have a 1972 Mercruiser 165 inline 6. It is running and sounding good, however, there is a noise coming from the outdrive that is odd. It's a kind of constant clank/knock, but goes away in gear. My first thought was it's not fully disengaging, but when I put it in gear there is no grinding sound or anything weird, just the audible "thunk" once the gears engage one another. This is my first I/O, and I am just getting her up and going, so this could be normal I guess.
The sound is odd, so not sure how to best describe it, it's not real loud, not even sure I'd hear it once under water. And on a side note, lol, where all is water supposed to come out when on muffs? I just wanna check for anything abnormal.
